OVER 500 properties in Edinburgh have been found to be owned by companies based offshore.
According to the Scots investigative journalism website, The Ferret, a study of Registers of Scotland data shows that, on the last day of last year, 3,237 Scottish properties were owned or leased by companies based outside of the UK.
Of those, 592 were in Glasgow, with 516 in Edinburgh.
The Ferret explores concerns that ‘offshore’ equates to tax havens, and perhaps also money laundering.
